Description
Khachapuri Adjarian Style is a traditional Georgian cheese bread boat that comes to your table in a convenient frozen format. The soft dough is made from wheat flour, milk, yeast, sugar and salt, and shaped into the signature open “boat”, filled with a rich blend of cheeses: suluguni, feta and mozzarella. After baking, the crust becomes golden and crisp on the outside while staying soft inside, and the cheese filling turns hot, stretchy and fragrant.
One piece weighs 450 g and is hearty enough as a main dish for 1–2 people. For an authentic Adjarian finish, you can add an egg and a small piece of butter in the center during the last minutes of baking, then mix the molten cheese, yolk and butter together and tear off pieces of crust to dip into the creamy, cheesy center.
Cooking method:
REMOVE KHACHAPURI FROM THE FREEZER AND LET IT SIT AT ROOM TEMPERATURE FOR 30-40 MINUTES
PREHEAT THE OVEN TO 365°F
PLACE THE KHACHAPURI ON A BAKING SHEET LINED WITH PARCHMENT PAPER
BAKE FOR 20-25 MIN UNTIL THE DOUGH IS GOLDEN AND THE BOTTOM IS FULLY COOKED
OPTIONAL: 5-7 MINUTES BEFORE IT'S DONE, ADD AN EGG AND A SMALL PIECE OF BUTTER TO THE CENTER
